Agriculture in the 21st Century
jeudi 28 avril 2016
Agriculture is undoubtedly one of the most important industries, including human life is unsustainable. From hunter-gatherers times today, but agricultural practices have changed significantly, with a large technical development takes place in the 20th century.
For many years, people only grew a few crops in their garden for their use, perhaps bartering with others for other items such as wool. Gradually, however, the ownership of agricultural land in fewer hands, with the advent of agriculture capitalism has three dominant classes come into existence; landowner, tenant farmer and agricultural worker. In the middle of the 19th century, nearly a quarter of the British population in agriculture, compared with 0.5% in 2010. There are many possible reasons for this as importing food products and practices, agricultural goods; but perhaps the only factor is the biggest promotion of agricultural machinery not improves efficiency on farms.
This agricultural revolution, perhaps, begins with the use of horses during the early 20th century. It is used to attract early forms of agricultural machinery such as plows and harrows. With the advent of the internal combustion engine and tractor invention, the number of horses in use dramatically reduces the engine workload before them made.
This mechanization of course poachers and expanded other specialized machinery, agricultural incurred general use. The 20th century, in fact, not a great advance in agricultural machinery.

More Weight or More Reps?
lundi 25 avril 2016
So, as a 56 y.o. guy, going back to the gym, I realize I will never look like Arnold, but am tired of looking like Peter Griffin. What will do me the most good when working on weight machines if I wish to focus on weight loss first?
Should I find the maximum weight I can lift for 8 - 10 reps, or should I find a weight that I can manage to lift 15 - 18 times?

Big update! Coming now!
vendredi 15 avril 2016
The moment you've all been waiting for, has finally arrived! :bcb_LOL:
By morning, there will be a NEW Health Discovery!
I will be launching an update to a large amount of website-pages on healthdiscovery.net. You probably won't notice much change here on the forums, but I do expect a couple of brief disturbances as I run other updates on the server (possibly a couple of server restarts)
The web-pages side of healthdiscovery will be 'down for maintenance' sometime in the wee hours of the night.
During that time, the forums will still function, and posting can continue for any night-owls, or very early morning birds.
What exactly is being updated?
Well, lots of things! I don't even know where to start.
Most of which are still a work in progress....
- A new site template (mobile friendly for phones)
- Updated Restaurant Menus, using 2016 nutrition facts and including Smart-Points
- Updated Recipes (not really new ones yet, but a new way of displaying them, soon to have smart-points)
- Updated Articles (again not really new ones yet, just a new system that will let us add new ones easier)
Now I know most sites, release updates and everything is perfect and what not. If I had 20 people working for me, ours might be too! I do what I can. Though I am actually impressed with what that is sometimes. Hopefully you will be too! ( don't judge my pictures, I am no artist!:bcb_wink3)
Here a closer look:
Tools
I did not get around to the 'tools' section of healthdiscovery. Though I do have some interesting things planned there. You'll notice that particular part of our site, and some others, will still have the OLD pages.
Restaurants
I'll mostly be working on adding new restaurants for a while. If you thoroughly enjoy the new system, and want to make a request for a restaurant, please feel free. I should be able to get at least 5 added per week. The new system I developed is very accurate, up-to-date, and easier for me to maintain.
Recipes
I've got a little bit more work before you all can start adding recipes to the system - mainly the old recipes are missing some nutrition information, and pictures. I can get the nutrition information, but no way can I cook that much myself!
I'll eventually add generic pictures, but, IF YOU MAKE A RECIPE FROM THAT SECTION, PLEASE TAKE A PICTURE AND SEND IT IN! If you find a recipe in there that is not good, or have one that is better - let me know and we can update it. Hang on to your favorite recipes, we can start sharing them easier, soon.
Articles
Despite being a 'Weight-Watchers' site. Our articles section has 2 articles about Weight-Watchers. One of which was poorly written by me. Only 4 Articles about Eating Healthy. The rest are all about exercise, fitness, and weight-loss. If you're a writer, even in the very least. Or you know of some superb forum threads we can promote - I'll accept any article style writing about Weight Watchers, or Healthy Eating. Take a look at the improved articles section after it launches, and see if it's something you may want to be a part of.
BCB Forums / Blogs
You already got your fancy shmancy colors and a new logo :) Next big update might be coming your way though.
Additionally
I updated our privacy policy and disclaimer to reflect the new restaurant information and smart-points.
Added an 'About' page that still needs some revisions, but it is coming along.
I also added a link at the bottom where you can $donate to healthdiscovery.net (me) via PayPal - which will help ensure I can keep working on these things instead of a 2nd job in the summer heat. :bcb_wink3
You can also help by spreading the word! Let other sites know that we are back with it! Share the new pages on social networks, link to us from other websites, ect. It will help!
Here we go, in 3, 2.......*big deep breath*... 1
If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please reply in this thread, or 'contact us' to reach me direct.

Help with Weight Watchers Food Points Calculation
Good evening buddies!
I was wonder if someone with an 'official' Weight Watchers calculator could check my formulas for Points estimations.
I'm not sure if anyone's still got an old Points calculator, but I'd love to get a check on ALL versions of food Points.
So if you have any official calculator handy, please help me check my numbers!
Here's a few set's to check, and the results I am getting with 'un-official' calculations.
Going for big numbers because they will show any discrepancies more accurately.

I'm back for the umteenth time! I'm planning to stay this time and have been working the Weight Watchers plan since the 1st of the year. I'm managing to hang in there this time and have lost about 15 pounds. My problem --- we eat out a lot! But I'm learning to deal with restaurant food better than I ever did before. :bcb_happy

Possible Connectivity Issues Tonight - Planned Maintenance
lundi 11 avril 2016
Hey buddies!
I am continuing to make some preparations here for the site update that I have been working on. You should expect to start seeing some of these things introduced in the next couple of weeks.
For the forums specifically,
We are changing the name of the folder the forums are in. You may experience a brief disturbance while we do so.
They will be accessed at http://ift.tt/23yqrg8 instead of http://ift.tt/1VjpyXB after the change.
You should automatically be redirected even when accessing the old locations. So, all of your bookmarks should still work. Let me know if they do not! That means something is not right.
I may do some more tweaking to the template while I'm back in this part of the site. I'll be taking any requests.
On http://ift.tt/23yqrga - be sure to take a good look at all of our old restaurants and old recipes. Kiss them goodbye, and look-forward to new systems for these with my update. I did not make it around to some parts of the site yet, but I will. Everything is still a work in progress.

Anyone on WW's have IBS, Chron's etc?
Total TMI but no matter how many different healthy foods I try I am constantly having stomach aches and on and off constipation. I have IBS and every time I start back on WW's I have stomach issues when eating fruits and vegetables especially. Anyone else have these issues and have any suggestions on what to do to make things easier on my stomach without having to go back on medications? Thank you!!:salut

Rejoining to reach Lifetime.
Hi, I have been on and off WW's since 2007. I originally started on the Flex Plan, had some health issues that put me on steroids so I stopped WW's. Went back to be on Points Plus, had a baby and stopped again.
I have lost and gained 54lbs, the most I gained back was 20lbs after pregnancy and now lost it again. I have been back on WW's doing Points Plus at home on my own and it is working well for me but at some point I would like to go back to meetings.
So...my question is at what point should I go back to meetings so I can become a lifetime member if I meet my goal? I have 52lbs more to go.
Thank you!:salut

Points difference conversion help.
Hi, new to the boards :bcb_smile
I am currently doing Points Plus. I have been on Pinterest and come across a lot of Smart Points recipes that I am interested in but they only have the Smart Points amounts listed without the full nutrition info. Is there a way to find out what the Points Plus values would be for these without breaking them down myself? If no, can you suggest a website that has a good recipe builder besides the WW one?
Thank you!!!!

Online CPR Training Makes it Easier to Learn CPR
Let's face it in this day and age it is very stressful. We seem to be faced with a lot of things all at once. We try to go to class, go through the traffic and work. We also meet people who manage the house. Being able to take a class online is a relief for most of us. This makes feasible CPR online training. The advantage of taking an online training CPR certification is a moment you can express yourself. Since it is online, it does not require a skill check.
We also know that the only way we really have a skill to learn, such as CPR, is through the application. However, people who need to learn it for a job. CPR certification they need to find work. So, before you take and pay for online CPR training, check with your employer if they can accept the evidence online.
There are CPR training classes available anywhere. You can check hospitals, fire departments and even community college while you check should double if they were recognized by reputable organizations. See also the instructors are certified. They are the only ones allowed to be a skill that is just as important as learning.

Aprils Fools Pranks Today? Let's Hear em!
vendredi 1 avril 2016
Here's some I scrounged up for ideas....
- Hide all of the desktop icons on someone’s computer and replace the monitor’s wallpaper with a screen-shot of their desktop.
- Put a “Please Use Other Door” sign on the entrance to your office building if it only has one entrance.
- Put a balloon on the tailpipe of a someone’s car so it will pop when they start their car.
- Glue the headset of someone’s phone down to the cradle.
- Put plastic wrap around the door frame of a commonly used door.
- Cover a toilet seat with plastic wrap.
- Leave a note on someone’s car apologizing for an accident that never actually happened.
- Glue all the eggs into the carton.
- Hard boil all the eggs in the carton and place them back in the refrigerator.
- Paint a bar of soap completely with clear nail polish so it won’t suds up.
- Turn every setting in someone’s car to the maximum: the heat, the radio, the wipers, the seats, etc.
- Place a small piece of Post-it note over the ball under someone’s computer mouse so that it won’t work.
- Conference call two people then don’t say anything, just listen.
- Place a ‘house for sale’ ad in the newspaper for someone’s home.
- Paint the tips of someone’s pen and pencil with clear nail polish so none of them work.
- Hide a small radio in the ceiling tiles above someone’s desk and turn it on very softly.
- Fill someone’s hair-dryer with baby powder.
- Leave cryptic notes warning someone of an impending prank then do nothing all day.
- Rubber band the sprayer on the kitchen sink into the “on” position.
- Hide an alarm clock in someone’s bedroom and set it for 3:00 a.m.
- Remove the shower head and place a chicken bouillon cube in it, then put the head back on.
- Rearrange somebody’s drawers or file cabinets in a different order.
- Cup some water in your hand and pretend to sneeze on the back of someone’s head.
- Tape magnets to the bottom of a cup, put it on the roof of your car and drive around.
- Put food coloring in the hand soap dispenser.
What are some of the best pranks that you've pulled, or have had done to you?
