Gastric bypass surgery
Super Obese individuals (people with a Body Mass Index over 45) have an increased risk during any surgery. The longer patient stays under the affect anesthesia, the greater the risk. Gastric bypass surgery can last over 2 hours. Duodenal switch surgery often takes over 4 hours. That’s a long time to be under anesthesia.
So surgeons started breaking the procedure up into two stages. The first stage was to reduce the size of the stomach. The second stage would be done a year later after the patient lost some weight. The second stage of the procedure would include bypassing some of the intestines to reduce calorie absorption.
So, surgeons started coding the first part of the procedure as the first half of a duodenal switch. Insurance was paying.

New WW Smart Phone App (Beyond the Scale/Smart Points)
I have a pretty decent and new smart phone - Samsung Galaxy S5. I got it like 5 months ago. I have no music, movies or games on it. (I'm not that type of guy.) Basically, I use it for phone calls, texting, email, internet access and taking some pictures. I have very few apps on it. (I have actually deleted some apps on it.)
I went back to WW this week. (Long story.) And, I loaded the WW app on my phone. Ever since then, I have issues getting email. My device keeps telling me that there's no storage left and it will not update my email. The only way to get email is to go in to my files and delete whatever I can find - and then my email will update. But, it keeps happening - and I have run out of things to delete on my phone.
It can't be a coincidence that this started only after I loaded the WW app. Is the thing that big that it takes up so much storage on my phone? Anyone else having an issue like this?

The Image Upload System is Currently Enabled
If you have more than 100 posts
You can now upload pictures directly from your computer or mobile device to the forums!
This new feature is in the ALPHA TESTING phase.
Meaning, it's working! But may have still issues that will need to be sorted out.
Keep checking here to see how we are doing.
You can help us get it right by trying to upload your photos!
Use this thread to let us know how it works for you(if it works for you) - and we will improve it from there!
It is currently only available on our Full-Site theme, or IOS6+ devices on our mobile theme(maybe)
Here's how you do it!
on our Full-Site theme (which is terrible on mobile devices right now, I know)
Use the 'Insert Image' button on the editor, just like you're used to with url images.
Except, now you can choose upload photos from your computer or mobile device.
imageinsert.gif
- Then just locate your picture, and upload it!
- Double click the picture in your editor to adjust its display size, alignment, and other properties.
double_click_image.jpg
-The "Attachments" system is another way to upload pictures.
(found in the advanced editor, by clicking the paperclip button or 'Manage Attachments')
It works now! If you upload images as attachments, they will be display as a mini gallery at the bottom of your post.
Per post, you can upload 10 images as attachments for the mini gallery.
Known Issues
This section will be updated with current issues and allowed photo upload properties.
Things are working much better now! We just wiped out a large portion of problems we were having.
- No Copy/Paste Image From Computer
You can NOT copy and paste images from your computer, into the editor...
It makes the forum Gods very unhappy. So just, don't do it. Copy and paste from other websites should still be ok.
- URL Upload for Attachments into the mini gallery are not currently working with HTTPS sites
- Upside Down / Sideways Photos - see this thread

Upside Down / Sideways Pictures
We like to keep everyone on their toes...
And apparently their heads too!:bcb_LOL:
I am aware of the issue with the new picture uploads coming in from mobile devices being upside down / sideways when viewed from non-mobile or other devices. I call it a bug, but our forum software provider calls it 'intended', and won't be providing a fix...
It's basically an incompatibility with our forum software(which is getting a bit older now), and Apples newer software that embeds orientation information to your photo when you take it.
As a temporary solution - supposedly, you can take photos that our forum will recognize as right-side up like this:
Since our forum software provider is not intending to fix the issue, I will be working on a custom solution for us similar to what most other sites do to recognize the orientation information, and display the pictures properly. It's just going to take me some time!(weeks) So your patience is greatly appreciated.
I really dislike Vbulletin sometimes, and this is one of those. We'll get through it though, we will make it work right!

New Picture Uploads!
What's up BCB's!?
If you have more than 100 posts, you can now upload pictures right from your computer or mobile device directly to the forums! That's what's up.
Just one small issue that I have come across so far, the only solution is NOT to do it.
You can NOT copy and paste the images from your computer, into the editor - as you can from other websites(which still works)
They will paste into the editor, but will not display when you make your post. It can cause issues with the thread loading that may require it to be deleted... So just, don't do it.
Use the 'Insert Image' button on the editor, which should give you the option to upload your pictures.
Once they have been uploaded, and are inline with your post - you can double click on them for size and positioning options.
All of your attached images will be held in your attachments manager for later use.
I haven't used this much myself, it will take some getting used to before being able to manage your attachments effectively. You can use the manager to add, remove, or save your attachments.
You also should also now be able to upload pictures to photo albums in your profile, and also into your blogs.
Let me know if you have any trouble or issues other than the one mentioned so that I can look into them.
Cheers!:salut

A Stylish Running Belt Makes Morning Jogs So Much More Convenient!
jeudi 19 novembre 2015
About six months ago, I had a heart valve replacement - it was one of the most difficult experiences of my life. Once I was cleared to engage in physical activity again, I started doing A LOT more cardiovascular exercise. A quick 30 minute jog soon became part of my morning routine.
Running was such a great way to start my day, but I kept running into issues - about three weeks into my new routine, my new iPhone 6 slipped out of my hand and the screen smashed on the pavement. I was so angry! Then, not even a month later, I was running and my debit card must've slipped out of the shallow pockets in my athletic shorts. I tried retracing my steps but couldn't find the card :( I ended up having to cancel it and get a new one. So frustrating!
I decided it was time to invest in a running belt - something that could securely hold my belongs while I jogged. I wanted a product made of high-quality materials and I wanted it to look stylish. I started browsing Amazon and came across quite a few products - flipbelts, fannypacks, etc. - but none seemed to satisfy what I was looking for. Every brand/model seemed to have a drawback of some kind. A lot of them looked downright cheap. I was about to give up my search until I came across a running belt called the Abedin3Q - and all I can say is WOW!
Right away, the light blue model caught my eye as it perfectly matched an athletic top I regularly wear. Their website specifically stated that it could hold my iPhone 6, which was a definite plus - no more smashed screens! The Amazon reviews were overwhelmingly positive, praising the Abebin3Q as being one of the top running belts on the market. With all this in mind, I decided to pull the trigger and bought one.
My package came in the mail later that week. The following morning, I secured the Abedin3Q to my waist and went for my morning jog. You wouldn't think it would make that much of a difference, but believe me, the Abedin3Q truly made my jog more convenient and enjoyable. With my iPhone 6, house-keys and debit card all safely secured in my running belt, I was able to relax and enjoy the trails. When I got back to my house, I had almost forgot I had it on! It fit well and instantly became part of my daily running attire.
Another neat use I found for the Abedin3Q was while traveling - I took a trip to Florida a few weeks ago and used it to hold my passport, money and other documents while in transit. It worked great! A couple fellow passengers even commented on it, asking where they could get one for themselves!
If you are a runner and considering getting more cardio exercise, do yourself a favor and get this running belt. Don't wait until you have a smashed phone screen or a lost house key! At only $28.95, it's a no-brainer :) you can thank me later!
A Stylish Running Belt Makes Morning Jogs So Much More Convenient!
Something New and Exciting!

Greetings Boot Camp Buddies!
I have been working on a few things behind the scenes, and wanted to let you know of some changes.
We've unlocked the 'Training Manuals' section, so new threads can be started. The same rules to it, still apply. New threads should attempt to make an impact due to their words of wisdom, advice and encouragement. It says posts submitted here by Mods only, which will still be the case. It's open for all right now, but will be closed again soon. No Spam please!
Fortunately, for almost ALL of our current, actively posting members - Those of you who have stuck around with us daily, weekly, monthly. Post after post.
You guys/gals are gonna be moderators! :bcb_bravo
It will be an optional role. You won't have to do anything. The things you can do, if you wanted, will mostly be related to forum organization, and spam control. I will also try to add some special features to distinguish our moderators. Each of the BCB Groups will have a super-moderator elected or assigned that will be able to have special privileges for group/thread organization.
In addition to new moderators, were are going to restructure the military type army ranks that everyone has. Actually, we are getting rid of them. They will be replaced by a 0-5 star system, based on the number of posts that you have.
That's all for now! We have lot's more planned, but don't want to reveal too much at once(or stay up any later):bcb_wink3

WW Points For Alcohol
jeudi 12 novembre 2015
Hi,
I'm new to Weight Watchers and while I mostly understand the points plus system, I am confused on alcohol. Most of the info I find online says a shot of vodka, whiskey, etc, is 4 points. However, when I put the nutritional info for a shot of vodka into the points plus calculator, it comes up 1 point. Since alcohol is only carbs, no protein, fat, fiber, I'm wondering how they are coming up with 4 points? If anyone can shed light on this, I would appreciate it.

Spagetti Squash Mexican Style
Ingredients: *1 Extra large spaghetti squash, *4 Tbsp Canned Green Chilis *1 Can Mexican-style diced tomatoes, *1 Can low sodium black beans, rinsed and drained, *1 cup shredded Mexican-Style Cheese Shreds, *1 Tsp Garlic Powder, ¼ Tsp Black Pepper, 1 Tsp. Ground Cumin.
Next time, I am going to add vegetarian beef, sauteed onion and pepper with jalapeno cheese on top!
This recipe originated from the cookbook “101 Best Diet Foods”
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large mixing bowl combine all the ingredients with only ½ of the cheese. Add to a baking dish.
Spread remaining cheese over the top an bake for 30 minutes.
The vegetables were tossed in olive oil and garlic and herb seasoning, then baked for 20 minutes on the grill.
Recipe makes 16 servings (1 cup per serving)
170 Calories, 4 g Fat, 28 g Carbs, 8 g Fiber, 11 g Protein, 2 g Sugar
Very good, DH and I had extra helping. I used leftover salsa in place of Mexican style diced tomatoes. Will make again for meatless Mondays

Anyone else's local meeting close?
lundi 2 novembre 2015
I'm a lifetime member who's been missing the local meeting for a long time due mostly to the fact that the time/place was inconvenient. I just now tried to find the meeting because I heard about a month ago that it changed to a different day, and I am now ready to return. But there was no meeting listed for my town on the WW site. There used to be two more meetings in the next town, about 40 minutes away, but they weren't listed either. So I called the WW meeting info number and was informed that my closest meeting is now about an hour away in a different town. She knew nothing about the closures.
Has this happened to anyone else? Is Weight Watchers closing unprofitable meetings? Darn it, I can't remember who told me about the new day. Any guesses or info would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Returning WW -- Joining you!!
lundi 12 octobre 2015
Hi everyone!!
I am a twice obtained LT member of WW and find myself currently about 20# over where I'd like to be. I attended meetings until this past month as I am tired of throwing away a meeting fee for gaining weight.
I'm not sure where my head has been the past 3 months, but I need to get it back together as my clothes are starting to look like crap and I'm not feeling 100%.
I'm looking for a board where people understand me. Where people talk WW as well as life itself.
Can you tell me if I've found what I've been looking for?? :bcb_bigsm
Thanks!!
