New Year New Me
jeudi 29 décembre 2016
Yes...unfortunately I have said this before but I really need to lose weight for my health! I am 49 and I have 2 sons. My youngest is 8 years old (yes...he was a "surprise"). Really want to get healthy this year. I really should lose at least 50 pounds. Going to do it by doing small goals and hopefully it will result in achieving a 50 pound weight loss. I would love to go back to WW...I do really good when I attend meetings, but I just can't afford the weekly fees. I do have the old points system materials and I pulled them out and I am going to follow that plan. It worked for me before. (If only I had kept that weight off..sigh.)

I found this forum years ago and was active back then. I stopped following the plan, gained back weight, lost the weight, then gained again. I have been back at WW on my own for 2 weeks. I'm doing well, losing weight and feeling empowered! I'm glad I remembered this forum and that it is still active.

Bun and thigh manual
Joke for Girls
NICKNAMES
If Laura, Kate and Sarah go out for lunch, they will call each other Laura,
Kate and Sarah .
If Mike, Dave and John go out, they will affectionately refer to each other
as Fat Boy, Godzilla and Four-eyes.
EATING OUT
When the bill arrives, Mike, Dave and John will each throw in £20, even
though it's only for £32.50.
None of them will have anything smaller and none will actually admit they
want change back.
When the girls get their bill, out come the pocket calculators.
MONEY
A man will pay £2 fora£1 item he needs.
A woman will pay £1 for a £2 item that she doesn't need but it's on sale.
BATHROOMS
A man has six items in his bathroom: toothbrush and toothpaste, shaving:bcb_grin
cream, razor, a bar of soap, and a towel from M&S.
The average number of items in the typical woman's bathroom is 337.
A man would not be able to identify more than 20 of these items.
ARGUMENTS
A woman has the last word in any argument.
Anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new argument..
CATS
Women love cats.
Men say they love cats, but when women aren't looking, men kick cats.
FUTURE
A woman worries about the future until she gets a husband.
Aman never worries about the future until he gets a wife.
SUCCESS
A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can spend.
A successful woman is one who can find such a man.
MARRIAGE
A woman marries a man expecting he will change, but he doesn't.
A man marries a woman expecting that she won't change, but she does.
DRESSING UP
A woman will dress up to go shopping, water the plants, empty the bins,
answer the phone, read a book, and get the post.
A man will dress up for weddings and funerals.
NATURAL
Men wake up as good-looking as they went to bed.
Women somehow deteriorate during the night.
OFFSPRING
Ah, children. A woman knows all abouther children.
She knows about dentist appointments and romances, best friends, favourite
foods, secret fears and hopes and dreams.
A man is vaguely aware of some short people living in the house.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
A married man should forget his mistakes.
There's no use in two people remembering the same thing.

Tips & Tricks For The Mind
vendredi 11 novembre 2016
As much as possible, as close to a daily basis as possible, I am going to come up with one "thing" with the aim/hope that it's a tool to use mentally (and therefore sometimes emotionally as well) in the battle against the losing control and allowing weight gain.
If I can somehow manage to come up with 90 of them, I'll cap it there. I am going to share them here to document them and serve as a personal challenge for me to maintain the task. I also hope that sharing them is helpful to others.
There's no rules. It can be anything. This will be as free form as it gets. Maybe it's something borrowed or original? Maybe it's words or a photo or video? Maybe it's a personal story or observation? Anything goes.
If anyone has something that that want to share, feel free. If I like what you share, I just may adopt it myself into my ninety.

Hi, my name is Maria. I had been very successful back in 2010 and lost over 100 pounds - unfortunately, I got way off track and gained all my weight back. I started back with WW about a month and a half ago and am back! I got all my favorite recipes from this site back when I was successful, so wanted to come back and be a part of this group again!

Shepherd's Pie
What is your favorite recipe for Shepherd's Pie? I used to have one off this site that used instant mashed potatoes, but I have lost my recipe... Thank you in advance!

Raising The White Flag
vendredi 7 octobre 2016
I need help. Figured maybe this was the place? It was almost exactly 6 years ago that I joined this forum. (Although it's been around 3 1/2 years since I was really active in these forums.)
I had a great run for seven years (2007 to 2013). The last 3 years have been rough. The last year has been really bad. The last five months have been TERRIBLE.
Before I get into it, is anyone still around these days?

Starting back...
Hi everyone! I'm starting back to Weight Watchers after an absence. Thought that I would introduce myself, so that I can feel connected here. I have joined more times than I care to think about but this time, I feel different. I am very serious. I'm just trying to figure out how to make all of the moving pieces of life fit together with this plan. haha... I'm a teacher and will start back to school soon, coach cheer after school, and really enjoy working out. I think that in order to be successful, I'm going to have to really plan ahead food-wise for everything. (I'm also a single mom, so not a lot of help at home with that.) Anyway, hi everyone and looking forward to getting to know you all!

Beach Body workouts?
I was wondering if any of you use the Beach Body programs? I have recently started Weight Watchers and already work out but was thinking about something different. Thought that I would see what you all think. I was really thinking about 21 Day Fix or Country Heat.

New but not
Hi Gang,
I am new to this board but not Weight Watchers. I am starting again after having been a lifetime member. Currently I am using my old material due to financial restraints. I was a server most of my adult life and always wondered if waitressing kept me chubby because of all the easily accessible food or kepy me from getting even bigger due to activity. Now I have my answer. In almost 4 years since I started my new career, Real Estate, I have gained 25 pounds :bcb_mad2. wish me luck!

How To Reverse Type 2 Diabetes
mardi 28 juin 2016
My name is Kevin; I was wondering if there is anyone out there suffering from diabetes, there is a solution that can possibly reverse the diabetes. How can I prove this, I also suffered from diabetes for over 15 years with blood sugar that sometimes rose to 400,then in 2015,I discovered a natural herbal supplement which I had to mix with lime. In less than 2 months of usage I began to see significant positive changes which ultimately led to me being diabetes free. I would have posted the website here but many might think I am promoting a supplement which I am not.
If you have any interest in saying goodbye to diabetes, send me a text message +1-786-453-7456 (Text only), I will be more than happy to give you further details on how it worked for me.

Does any one know if one can still lose weight even if one does have polycystic ovarian syndrome? I have tried to shout a warning to someone who supposedly gained n230 pounds with this condition but I dont think she is being sincere because even with this she once lost 100 pounds then regained them and when she was threatened w diabetes she dID manage to lose 18 lbs in a hurry. Are there medications which can combat that kind of weight gain

I am in tears bec I really tried to carry the WW message to someone who really needs help. There is a woman on Tv who sings 2 tunes at once. She claims her 382 lbs is due to a metabolic condition polycystic ovarian syndrome but she candidly admits that even b4 that kicked in she had an eating disorder and she was able to lose 100 lbs despite anything medical--only to regain and her parents have largely been enablers. She dodged diabetes narrowly. I was never as obese but I was on Depakote headache medicine wh can cause the exact same symptoms as pcos and though it slowed down the rate at which I lost the weight I got there at goal--13 lbs lost in 19 weeks and even maintained Lifetime since last Aug (12 lbs overweight looks 33 times that much on a very small barely 5 ft person like me. And that woman while blaring free and fat forever just isn't honest bec she has shown eps on tv of trying to work out, saying goodbye to comfort food and under the real threat of diabetes she managed to lose 18 lbs in a hurry. last week she collapsed on a dance floor. I faceboo messaged her about the dangers not just of diabetes but respiratory failure--she already uses CPAP--what if it fails at night? and even complications in childbirth if due to fat the uterus cant contract properly. I said WW is the best because you can eat anything so long as you measure points and amounts--unlike those vitamin deficient boring magic shakes or those packaged meals that taste like cat food. I suggested the parents lower the boom on her in this life threatening situation like threatening to cut off financial aid, cut her out of their wills or even if the situation goes on--have her forced into inpatient treatment as a danger to herself--like some parents do with alcoholic or drug addicts even tho their child is an adult. You should have seen the obscenities thrown at me in response by "Commentators". I was doing no worse or ruder than the Tv people who wave those colostomy bags and warn of the consequences of smoking. Arent we--like AA or Na--supposed to carry and spread the beneficial lessons we learned--the 12th step? please if there is any body who had a WW boomerang like this write on this board or to me cmichal427@yahoo.com

Yoga training - An Elixir for Mind and Body
jeudi 19 mai 2016
Yoga
The Method of Kundalini Jagran

The Method of Kundalini Jagran
The Method of Kundalini Jagran
The Kundalini Jagran (release of the dormant energy) is achieved via physical and mental exercise. Physical fitness is achieved by the Yoga Asanas. They are a series of postures for exercising and stretching the body. Mental balance is achieved by Pranayama (Breathing Exercise) and Dhyana (Meditation). The Jagran of Kundalini is just the process towards the goal of self-enlightenment. The Bhagwad Gita the ancient book of knowledge and spirituality defines yoga as a means to achieve union with self. When the state of union with self is achieved the mind gets freedom from all desires and becomes absorbed in self. This helps to understand the true nature of life and the environment around.
A way of life
Yoga is generally related to the Hindu religion and the yogis but it is not the fact. In fact, it is a way of life with the aim of healthy mind and body. As per Yogic texts man is a combination of physical self, mental self and spiritual self and yoga-practice is a way to develop all the three aspects. Other exercises are only for the body and do not have any connection to the spiritual aspect of life.
Yogic practices, on the other hand, help to regulate physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Here are some of the benefits of this ancient technique:
• Promotes equilibrium and harmony of mind, body and spirit.
• Helps the body in healing itself. There have been many instances of an ill person getting well without consuming any external medicine, just following the yoga-Asanas and other practices.
• Detoxifies body by removing toxins and the mind by removing negative thoughts.
• Empowers the individual, and the energy can be felt from within.
• Reduction of stress in life is one of the many benefits of yoga-practice.
• Self-awareness is achieved which can help realize true potential.
1. You Need to Be fit to Practice Yogic Poses - People generally believe that they cannot perform yoga-asana, as they are very complex. This myth has arisen from seeing advance yogis in extreme yogic positions. But unfit people can practice it and the asana can be modulated as per the need.
2. Weekly Exercise - In fact, the ancient texts prescribe yoga be done daily, even if it is just 20 minutes.
3. Yoga is a Religion - Yoga is not a religion, but a philosophy which helps us live a better and responsible life.
The Impact Of Shift Work On Health
mercredi 18 mai 2016
The health and motivation for shift work have been known to have its own peculiar demands. This has set it apart from
jobs that have traditional hours of work. Shift work has its own health merits. The shift work has been created to aid workflow processes between employer, employee and tasks at hand. Over the years, it has been noticed that workers identified in shift work often receive better health plans, health products, and remuneration and by this, give shift workers time to do other tasks or personal chores while being watchful of individual mental health.
However, the scientific and medical communities report continually that shift workers concerned stand an increased risk of certain health disorders and mental health challenges that have severe negative impact on the general well-being of work shift staff which may not be achieved until the right health products are used.
There is a concern for the 9 to 5ers, as one sees a case of the health of those who barely get by with the hard life of routine which most times is viewed to compensate only the boss at the top. Furthermore, we sought to consider those who work less conventional hours that include working shifts at night. Any way it is looked at, an adequate welfare plan should be in place for them while introducing supplements of health products.
Researchers have discovered that those more at risk of suffering certain mental health challenges and chronic ailments ordiseases, are shift workers, such as flight attendants, police officers, doctors, bartenders, nurses, and the like. Shift work can be classified as any type of work schedule that involves hours that are uncommon, or unusual when comparing this type of work schedule with the traditional work schedule that occurs within the day between 6 am and 6 pm.
For clarity, the term shift work can refer to rotating shifts, working overnight, evening shifts and other flexible shift patterns desired or arranged by the employer that also addresses the challenge of mental health in shift work platforms. In other to assist shift workers, first aid boxes can be kept handy and filled with health products for shift workers.
It's been recorded by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), that over 16.8% salary workers and full-time wage workers are employed to work alternative shifts.
Another interesting discovery made is that evening shifts are the most common alternative shifts, which have their working hours starting at between 2 pm and midnight. Work schedules may also constantly change as a result of irregular work shifts that also result in mental health and hormonal imbalances.
In this article, we take a look at what the resultant effects of what shift work are, what shift workers can potentially do in other to lower their risks of diverse health problems and what salient reasons could possibly be behind these findings. The mental health and prescribed health products of shift workers should not be left unaddressed as this plays an important role in the health and total well-being of the workers.
At first glance, it appears as though shift workers have and work different hours compared to the regular workers' typical 9-to-5 routine. Reports also show that this is not the only underlying factor, as one key factor also is an increased risk of some diseases.
Some medical associations such as the Medical News Today have reported on studies that relate the lack of usage of health products and increased risk of certain health problems with shift work. These relationships have seen discoveries ranging from the predictable to the most amazing jaw-dropping situations.
A reputable medical journal published a meta-analysis in 2014 which suggested that shift workers face an increased risk of type 2 diabetes. This is a red flag. Taking into consideration, shift workers rotating shifts also face an increased risk of 42%. So we see a need for the inclusion of health products as ready supplements for shift workers.
Interestingly, shift workers who rotate night shifts for 15 years and above were found to potentially increase the health risk of lung cancer mortality and poor mental health.

Agriculture in the 21st Century
jeudi 28 avril 2016
Agriculture is undoubtedly one of the most important industries, including human life is unsustainable. From hunter-gatherers times today, but agricultural practices have changed significantly, with a large technical development takes place in the 20th century.
For many years, people only grew a few crops in their garden for their use, perhaps bartering with others for other items such as wool. Gradually, however, the ownership of agricultural land in fewer hands, with the advent of agriculture capitalism has three dominant classes come into existence; landowner, tenant farmer and agricultural worker. In the middle of the 19th century, nearly a quarter of the British population in agriculture, compared with 0.5% in 2010. There are many possible reasons for this as importing food products and practices, agricultural goods; but perhaps the only factor is the biggest promotion of agricultural machinery not improves efficiency on farms.
This agricultural revolution, perhaps, begins with the use of horses during the early 20th century. It is used to attract early forms of agricultural machinery such as plows and harrows. With the advent of the internal combustion engine and tractor invention, the number of horses in use dramatically reduces the engine workload before them made.
This mechanization of course poachers and expanded other specialized machinery, agricultural incurred general use. The 20th century, in fact, not a great advance in agricultural machinery.

More Weight or More Reps?
lundi 25 avril 2016
So, as a 56 y.o. guy, going back to the gym, I realize I will never look like Arnold, but am tired of looking like Peter Griffin. What will do me the most good when working on weight machines if I wish to focus on weight loss first?
Should I find the maximum weight I can lift for 8 - 10 reps, or should I find a weight that I can manage to lift 15 - 18 times?

Big update! Coming now!
vendredi 15 avril 2016
The moment you've all been waiting for, has finally arrived! :bcb_LOL:
By morning, there will be a NEW Health Discovery!
I will be launching an update to a large amount of website-pages on healthdiscovery.net. You probably won't notice much change here on the forums, but I do expect a couple of brief disturbances as I run other updates on the server (possibly a couple of server restarts)
The web-pages side of healthdiscovery will be 'down for maintenance' sometime in the wee hours of the night.
During that time, the forums will still function, and posting can continue for any night-owls, or very early morning birds.
What exactly is being updated?
Well, lots of things! I don't even know where to start.
Most of which are still a work in progress....
- A new site template (mobile friendly for phones)
- Updated Restaurant Menus, using 2016 nutrition facts and including Smart-Points
- Updated Recipes (not really new ones yet, but a new way of displaying them, soon to have smart-points)
- Updated Articles (again not really new ones yet, just a new system that will let us add new ones easier)
Now I know most sites, release updates and everything is perfect and what not. If I had 20 people working for me, ours might be too! I do what I can. Though I am actually impressed with what that is sometimes. Hopefully you will be too! ( don't judge my pictures, I am no artist!:bcb_wink3)
Here a closer look:
Tools
I did not get around to the 'tools' section of healthdiscovery. Though I do have some interesting things planned there. You'll notice that particular part of our site, and some others, will still have the OLD pages.
Restaurants
I'll mostly be working on adding new restaurants for a while. If you thoroughly enjoy the new system, and want to make a request for a restaurant, please feel free. I should be able to get at least 5 added per week. The new system I developed is very accurate, up-to-date, and easier for me to maintain.
Recipes
I've got a little bit more work before you all can start adding recipes to the system - mainly the old recipes are missing some nutrition information, and pictures. I can get the nutrition information, but no way can I cook that much myself!
I'll eventually add generic pictures, but, IF YOU MAKE A RECIPE FROM THAT SECTION, PLEASE TAKE A PICTURE AND SEND IT IN! If you find a recipe in there that is not good, or have one that is better - let me know and we can update it. Hang on to your favorite recipes, we can start sharing them easier, soon.
Articles
Despite being a 'Weight-Watchers' site. Our articles section has 2 articles about Weight-Watchers. One of which was poorly written by me. Only 4 Articles about Eating Healthy. The rest are all about exercise, fitness, and weight-loss. If you're a writer, even in the very least. Or you know of some superb forum threads we can promote - I'll accept any article style writing about Weight Watchers, or Healthy Eating. Take a look at the improved articles section after it launches, and see if it's something you may want to be a part of.
BCB Forums / Blogs
You already got your fancy shmancy colors and a new logo :) Next big update might be coming your way though.
Additionally
I updated our privacy policy and disclaimer to reflect the new restaurant information and smart-points.
Added an 'About' page that still needs some revisions, but it is coming along.
I also added a link at the bottom where you can $donate to healthdiscovery.net (me) via PayPal - which will help ensure I can keep working on these things instead of a 2nd job in the summer heat. :bcb_wink3
You can also help by spreading the word! Let other sites know that we are back with it! Share the new pages on social networks, link to us from other websites, ect. It will help!
Here we go, in 3, 2.......*big deep breath*... 1

Help with Weight Watchers Food Points Calculation
Good evening buddies!
I was wonder if someone with an 'official' Weight Watchers calculator could check my formulas for Points estimations.
I'm not sure if anyone's still got an old Points calculator, but I'd love to get a check on ALL versions of food Points.
So if you have any official calculator handy, please help me check my numbers!
Here's a few set's to check, and the results I am getting with 'un-official' calculations.
Going for big numbers because they will show any discrepancies more accurately.

Just wondering if we are close. Thanks!
